What is Breast Cancer and How Does it Develop?

Breast cancer happens when cells in the breast start growing out of control and form a tumor. In most cases, this form of cancer begins in the ducts that carry milk to the nipple. This is called ductal cancer. In other cases, it starts in the glands that produce milk; this is known as lobular cancer.

Not every lump in the breast is cancer. Some lumps are harmless growths that don’t spread. Still, finding a lump can increase the risk of breast cancer, which is why it’s important to talk with a doctor and get checked.

Breast cancer becomes more serious when cancer cells spread to the blood or lymph system and travel to other parts of the body. The more lymph nodes that contain cancer cells, the greater the chance the cancer can spread to other organs.

We’ve made the Punta Gorda, Florida car donations process quick and easy. Just follow these three steps to get your vehicle picked up for free:

Step 1: Fill out our online vehicle donation form or call (866) 540-5069. One of our donor specialists will assist you. We’ll ask for your vehicle’s details (including the make and model). We’ll also request your preferred pick-up time, date, and location.

Step 2: We’ll verify your information to determine whether your vehicle qualifies. If it does, we’ll schedule a free pickup with a professional tow company. You won’t pay a dime.

Step 3: The tow company will pick up your vehicle at the scheduled date, time, and location. You’ll receive a donation receipt that releases you from liability. You can then cancel your vehicle’s insurance and registration.

After pickup, your vehicle will be sold at auction. Once the sale is complete, we’ll send you a letter with the final sale price. This letter includes your sales receipt or IRS form, which you’ll use to claim your tax deduction when you file your taxes.

If your vehicle sells for less than $500, you can claim the sale price or the fair market value up to $500 (whichever is higher). You can estimate fair market value by comparing prices for similar vehicles of the same make, model, year, and condition. If your vehicle sells for more than $500, you may claim a tax deduction equal to the full sale price.

Beyond Donating, How Else Can I Help My Community?

Along with donating a vehicle, you can support your community by volunteering with local medical centers. Many hospitals are looking for volunteers who can help patients and families touched by breast cancer.
